Child Health
Child Health Surveillance starts with a baby’s 6-8 week check up with the doctor and health visitor and continues to the age of 5 years. During this period the health visitor continues to check your child’s development at regular intervals. You may also see a doctor at any time to share any concerns you may have regarding your child’s development.
The 8-week baby clinic is run jointly between doctors and health visitors. You will receive an appointment for you to bring your baby to this clinic where a doctor will perform a thorough examination. The baby will be weighed, measured, have a vision, hearing, general behaviour and the hips checked. The baby’s first primary vaccinations are offered at this appointment.
After this initial contact with the practice babies can be brought to the well baby clinic for weighing, developmental check ups and further vaccinations. The clinic runs every Wednesday between 1.30pm and 3.30pm. Please note that only well babies should be brought to this clinic.
